I will overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Joshua
The British boxer is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex two time unified title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Boxer's Mindset
"I will break his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, stated.
"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Civil Exchange
Despite these statements, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically famous for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul rather criticized former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, at the same time, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I acknowledge that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he stated.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since becoming pro.
He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Financial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's biggest financial successes, regularly earning massive paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Disparity
As the two fighters engaged in the traditional face-off, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is truly happening.
